Celebrated British boxer Anthony Joshua visited Ghana for the Legacy Rise Sports: Battle of the Beast event and has been rather friendly to the country ever then.
Through this, he also challenged his Nigerian colleagues for spreading what he now thinks to be false stories.
Paid a visit at the Jubilee House by the two-time unified heavyweight champion Monday, June 16, 2025, Monday Ghana delighted and startled him. He said that initially the trip was not planned because of what he had seen back home.
“To be really honest, I had no intention of visiting Ghana. Why does every Nigerian believe their nation is superior? “But now that I’m here, I’m looking around like, they have been lying to me,” he said.

Arriving here, British-Nigerian boxer Sharaf Mahama has been to several events including private courtesy calls and public appearances as part of his “Battle of the Beasts” boxing fight.
As Joshua was truly inspired by his trip, he continued to be praising Ghana’s people, infrastructure, and rich cultural legacy.
“Your beautiful country, amazing culture, hospitality, airport, and organisation have all really impressed me,” he said more. “I can’t wait to show everyone on the planet how beautiful this place is.”
