The Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Lydia Yaako Donkor, has said why former GIHOC Distilleries managing director Maxwell Kofi Jumah was arrested.
On Sunday, June 29, agents from the National Security took Mr. Jumah into custody at his home in Kumasi. He has been both a Member of Parliament and the Mayor of Kumasi in the past.
He is being taken to the CID Headquarters in Accra right now for more investigation.
DCOP Yaako Donkor told reporters on Monday, June 30, that GIHOC Distilleries had filed a lawsuit against Mr. Jumah for stealing business vehicles.
GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited filed a complaint or petition with us that led to the arrest of Kofi Jumah. She said that a petition was sent saying that Kofi Jumah had stolen cars that belonged to the company.
She says that the CID got the right warrant before they arrested Mr. Jumah, and he is now helping with the investigations.
This afternoon, we were able to get back three cars. So, the cars that were said to have been stolen from him have been found. “We will continue from there with the investigation with the help of DCOP Yaako Donkor,” they said.
